When reflecting, these last few months hold some of the most difficult memories of my life thus far, mushed into a small period of time. I’m thankful for the lessons, people, and strength I’ve gained from each and every painful situation I was put in. I am happy to always realize life is much easier, no matter the situation, when your glass is half full and you embrace the beauty of the world around you. Although I am not perfect, I know that I have that in common with others and we can share that together. My new years resolution is to always, no matter how negative the situation, look&find the beauty.

It’s so weird, the place that myself, my friends, any other college student, are in. It’s the ultimate limbo. We’re adults, but we can still be kids. We battle the famous “trio” of school, a social life and getting enough sleep daily. But this life; this short, fun, hard, educational, social, 4 year life we have is just that, 4 years. I cannot wait to see what kind of job I get, where my career path will end… but I cannot wait, or I can wait? As a junior, I’m starting to realize how short of a time I have left, before I’m released to TRULY live on my own, to swim upstream, to learn. I spent a good amount of time tonight looking back on photo’s and video’s from my freshman year of college and it seems like absolute ages ago. But it also has shown me how much I’ve matured, changed, learned and grown since then. It’s beautiful, this world I live in now is beautiful, a beautiful limbo. But the best part? I’m lucky enough to realize that it’s only temporary. That I need to not take it for granted and I need to jump at any and ever opportunity because before I know it I’m going to be looking back on “those 4 years”. Cheers!

My best friend, Caroline, is Miss Oregon 2011 in the Miss America pageant! The pageant airs on ABC on January 14, but before then they are having a “America’s Choice” competition through youtube. The idea is, you follow the link, vote for who you want and that person is awarded on the big night. The big incentive? They are also granted a spot in the top 15 of the show. Amazing!! Lately, after discovering my parent’s house has Netflix, i’ve spent most of my leisure time at home watching documentaries on various things. I’ve falling pretty hard for documentaries in fact, that its sparked such a large interest in me I find myself fantasizing about making one of my own. What would be my theme, idea, plot, who knows… but the idea of it is so fun to day dream about.

Then, following that, I found out my school offers a New Media class on documentaries. Whoah. I AM FOR SURE TAKING THAT CLASS. How cool, how interesting!

Some really awesome documentries I’ve watched recently have been:

Freakonomics
Page One: Inside the New York Times - VERY interesting!
the Pixar Story - Very cool, was learning about “collective intelligence” in a class one day and I couldn’t help but think about how Pixar got started and how relatable those two are.
The Future We Will Create: Inside the World of TED - And well, who in media and technology and communications isn’t interested in TED?

Oh, and a LARGE “hahahahahah” at the Kardashian wedding making it to the most shared web chart. Am I surprised? No. Am I disappointed in the world? A little. But hey, if that’s what is interesting news, then you can’t bash media companies for capitalizing on it.
